The provincial government is introducing legislation today to protect commercial tenants from being evicted due to the negative impacts of COVID-19.
The Progressive Conservatives say they will seek unanimous consent from all parties in the legislature to expedite the passage of the bill by tonight.
The legislation would be retroactive to May 1st -- far short of the mid-March starting point the New Democrats have been calling for.
The N-D-P also says all businesses should qualify, not just ones that would be covered under a federal-provincial rent relief program.
