The Toronto Star says that the Ford government cut millions in funding for programs that provide after-school jobs for needy teens, classroom tutors for kids and “student success” supports for racialized youth.
Seventy-two school boards recieved emails late Friday listing the programs that will be cut or see funding reduced.
The Star reports that officials from all of the school boards have been scrambling this weekend, trying to figure out how this will impact them financially
It may take weeks before each is able to clarify how it will impact students.
A spokesperson for Minister of Education Lisa Thompson said Saturday that such funds must be “better managed so that they have the greatest impact on students.”
