Crews are getting ready to demolish the Forks Road Bridge in Welland.
Last month, city council awarded the contract to remove the derelict structure to Schouten Excavating from Watford.
The site is now being prepared for the bridge removal, and public safety guidelines are in effect until the work is completed.
The area is prohibited to all pedestrian, vehicular, and drone traffic and residents are being asked to stay away from the canal banks nearby as well.
Demolition is expected to start next Monday and wrap up near the end of May.
City staff will also be presenting a report on potential funding sources and replacement options during the April 23rd general committee meeting.
