Jeff McGuire has been appointed the Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.
McGuire retired from the Niagara police force last year, with three years left to go on his contract and was given a deal that cost taxpayers more than $870,000.
After the announcement, allegations emerged the chief was forced out by the Police Services Board amid bad relations between the two.
In January of this year, McGuire sent CKTB News a message stating "I can assure you that I did not want or agree to retire until such time as the retirement agreement was finalized"
McGuire said he planned to serve the terms of his extended contract to 2020 but says "I was made an offer that I simply could not refuse."
OACP President Chief Bryan Larkin says in a release, “Jeff brings significant leadership, vision, and policing experience to the position. His experience will allow the Board of Directors to continue their ongoing advocacy work."
McGuire begins his new job June 4th.
