The future of two empty public schools in Fort Erie will be the focus of an informal open house meeting next month.
The Town of Fort Erie and the District School Board of Niagara are working together to prepare for the future of the Crystal Beach Public School and Bertie Public School properties.
Earlier this month, Council approved a staff request to initiate an amendment to the Town's Official Plan and Zoning By-law for the two properties owned by the DSBN.
The buildings are currently designated as Institutional and have remained vacant since September 2016.
The town is proposing the properties be amended to allow for both residential and institutional uses in order to facilitate their development for the highest and best use to benefit the Crystal Beach and Ridgeway community.
