Visitors to Fort Erie's Oakes Park will now be able to take advantage of free public wi-fi.
The town is expanding the free wi-fi network that already encompasses several locations including Leisureplex Arena, Crystal Ridge Arena, the Fort Erie Municipal Centre, and Fort Erie Libraries, Fire Halls, and Museums.
Fort Erie officials say the town's Digital Services department began the free wi-fi project six years ago, making it one of the first municipalities in the region to provide the service.
"By expanding our digital infrastructure to include Town parks and facilities, we are able to provide our residents and visitors with free wi-fi and the ability to enjoy the freedom of the Internet while they are on the go. This initiative shows our Town’s commitment to enhancing our use of connected technology," Mayor Wayne Redekop said via a release.
"Our strategy is simple – we upgrade our digital infrastructure at Town facilities and expand the wi-fi reach to include parks and public buildings within the area. By collaborating with staff in Facilities and Planning we can deliver a low-cost solution that provides our community with the ability to access the Internet at their own convenience," Manager of Digital Services Kelly Davis adds.
