A goalie has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars in an on ice attack during a charity hockey game last May in Fort Erie.
The sentence was handed down yesterday in a Welland court after Todd Ball struck a deal and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of assault causing bodily harm.
Ball was charged after he came out of the crease and used his stick to swing at an opposing player, striking the player in the face.
The victim Ryan Cox received serious facial injuries that have required numerous surgeries to repair.
The incident happenedĀ at a charity 3 on 3 game at the Fort Erie Leisureplex.
