The town of Fort Erie is putting out a warning about illegal dumping after eight, 50 gallon barrels of toxic material were found on town property.
Officials say staff were able to find and remove the barrels before any negative effects could take place.
The barrels have now been properly disposed of with the help of the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
Residents are encouraged to report illegal dumping to Crime Stoppers.
Last year, Crime Stoppers received 755 reports leading to 140 warnings issued.
Illegal dumping can include household garbage, construction material, appliances, furniture, tires, landscaping and yard waste, and chemical and medical waste (such as paint or oil).
