Provincial police say they've arrested four people accused of using a drone to smuggle weapons, drugs and cigars into a prison in Kingston, Ont.
Police say they began investigating in late March when a drone was spotted near the Collins Bay Institution and found two people in a vehicle before seizing a drone, cannabis and cigars.
They say they found a package on prison grounds containing weapons, tobacco and cannabis.
Police say four people were arrested this week, with the help of the provincial police in Quebec.
They say two people from Quebec and two people from the Toronto area are facing charges that include participation in a criminal organization and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
OPP spokesman Bill Dickson says this case doesn't have any clear connection to another investigation into drones being used to smuggle contraband into the same prison.
