Niagara Regional Police have made yet another arrest in a historic sexual abuse investigation in Port Colborne stretching back 20 years.
Police began looking into allegations of neglect and abuse after a community services worker brought forward concerns.
Officials believe most of the offences alleged to have happened occurred while the victims were under the age of 16.
Yesterday 70 year old Shane Ayres of Port Colborne was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Police have now charged a total of four men in connection with this case.
On June 25th police laid charges against a 55 year old man from Port Colborne. They include:
- six counts of sexual assault
- four counts of sexual interference
- four counts of sexual exploitation
- four counts of invitation to sexual touching
- sexual exploitation of a person with a disability
- three counts of incest
- four counts of corrupting children
- four counts of failing to provide the necessaries of life
- four counts of forcible confinement
- assault with a weapon
- four counts of assault
- uttering death threats
The 55 year old man's name is being withheld to protect the identity of the alleged victims.
A second man, 52 year old Gerald 'Butchy' Fleming, was arrested and charged on June 28th. He is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability.
And 50 year old William Vorstenbosh of Port Colborne was arrested on Tuesday. He faces charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability.
