Older adults in St.Catharines are invited to ‘Hop on the Bus, With Us’ for a tour of the St. Catharines Museum.
Hop on the Bus, With Us, is a bus trip to the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre which will include a special tour and presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from noon to 3 p.m., or Thursday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The tour, aimed at adults who are 50-plus, costs $15 a person, which includes lunch at the museum.
Free bus transportation is provided thanks to the provincial grant, with pick-up and drop-off locations at the City’s three Older Adult Centres.
“It’s a great opportunity for the older adults in our communities to come together for a day of learning about our community’s history, but also have an opportunity to connect with their community and socialize,” said Koby Vanyo, programs supervisor. “We’re very appreciative of the grant from the Ministry of Senior Affairs, which has helped us cover the cost of the bus travel.”
The Feb. 20 tour runs from noon to 3 p.m., with pickups scheduled to take place at West St. Catharines Older Adult Centre at 10:55 a.m., Port Dalhousie Older Adult Centre at 11:15 a.m., and Dunlop Drive Older Adult Centre at 11:35 a.m.
The Feb. 21 tour runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with pickups scheduled to take place at West St. Catharines Older Adult Centre at 8:50 a.m., Port Dalhousie Older Adult Centre at 9:10 a.m., and Dunlop Drive Older Adult Centre at 9:30 a.m.
The bus will also stop at each older adult centre at the conclusion of the trips.
Anyone wishing to participate is asked to reserve their space. Only 45 seats are available on the bus. You can reserve a seat by talking to staff at one of the City’s Older Adult Centres, or you can call 905.688.5601, ext. 1554.
The trip is made possible with the support of funding from a Seniors Community Grant from Ontario’s Ministry of Seniors Affairs.
