The Niagara Region hopes to attract more highly skilled workers and entrepreneurs from abroad thanks to new funding.
A $35,000 dollar grant from the Ontario's Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and a $20,000 dollar grant from the federally funded Local Immigration Partnership program will zero in on immigration.
In a release, the region notes boosting Niagara's global attractiveness is one of the key strategic priority projects for the 2015 - 2018 term.
The money will be used for to redevelop the region's online immigration portal
The Region also says that when compared to the national average of 7.5 percent, immigrants comprise only 4 percent of Niagara’s current population
