Some major improvements are on the way for Community Living St.Catharines.
The Ontario government announcing today that $185,000 will be invested into the 145 year old Welland Ave. facility that serves hundreds of people with developmental disabilities.
Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services toured the agency today with Jim Bradley, MPP for St. Catharines to highlight the province’s investment, which will help with projects such as roof repairs, the installation of new energy efficient windows and improvements to make buildings more accessible.
Construction at Community Living St. Catharines is due to begin shortly, with completion estimated by the end of March 2019.
CEO of the facility, Al Moreland says that they work tirelessly to ensure people with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to participate in all elements of living in the community.
He says the investment from the provincial and federal governments in Community Living St. Catharines means they can continue with their goal of removing barriers for those with disabilities from participating in the social, recreational, and economic world around them.
