You may want to fill up your gas tank today, prices are on the way up.
Dan McTeague with https://www.gasbuddy.com/ says average gas prices in Ontario jumped six cents per litre overnight to levels not seen since October 2014.
While McTeague blames the spike on warmer weather and the switch to more expensive summer gas, other experts are calling it nothing more than a profit grab.
McTeague says gas sold after April 15th until September 15th must meet new environmental standards, thus adding to the cost.
Prices outside of our region, have already climbed to $1.20 a litre.
McTeague says fortunately St. Catharines motorists are still benefiting from ongoing gas wars on Ontario Street.
The analyst adds on top of the switch to pricier summer gas, there is the added 4.4 cents a litre carbon tax compliments of the Wynne government.
