Nova Scotia's Acadia University will hold a panel discussion for students following the live stream of a speech by the lawyer who represented Jian Ghomeshi in his sexual assault trial last year.
Prominent Toronto lawyer Marie Henein is scheduled to speak at Bishops University in Sherbrooke, Quebec as part of a lecture series that will be live-streamed to Acadia and St. Francis Xavier University, also in Nova Scotia.
Some students at the Nova Scotia institutions had called for Henein's speech to be cancelled, citing her aggressive treatment of the women who had accused the former CBC host of sexual misconduct.
One student argued that Henein's selection serves to silence victims and perpetuate rape culture.
Henein is a senior law partner at Henein Hutchison, and has been counsel on numerous high profile and controversial cases.
