A Ford plant in Oakville has been chosen to build the automaker's new model Edge S-U-V.
Production is expected to begin this summer after Ford redesigned the Edge with an array of smart technology for global export.
Ford spokeswoman Lauren More says the company has no plans to hire more workers or change its operating pattern at the plant.
Ford has pledged to spend 1.2 billion over four years to retool its Canadian plants and to create a research and engineering centre in Ottawa.
