It looks like another attempt will be made to set up a ferry service between Niagara and Toronto.
According to the CBC, Redrock Power Systems has been given $15,000 by Transport Canada to look at the possibility of a zero-emission commuter ferry for Lake Ontario.
The company's founder tells the CBC he wants to build a 150 person ferry that would run nine months of the year.
This isn't the first time a company has tried to float the idea - in 2017 a Beamsville resident wanted to set up a similar service using hovercraft with seven Toronto bound trips a day from Port Dalhousie and Jordan Station.
The money comes from The Clean Transportation System – Research and Development Program. Funding is earmarked for projects aiming to address air pollutants and/or greenhouse gas emissions.
All projects receiving funding must be complete by March 31, 2022.
