The federal Transport Minister will meet today with representatives from several Indigenous group and well as provincial and territorial officials in an effort to get the trains rolling again.
In the meantime, VIA Rail and CN Rail are shutting down large sections of their railway networks as Indigenous blockades continue.
Most of VIA's passenger service is temporarily suspended nationwide, including along the popular Toronto- Ottawa- Montreal corridor.
VIA says passengers who have had their trips cancelled will be fully refunded.
