A new partnership between the Greater Fort Erie Secondary School and Meridian will see $500,000 put toward the cost of the school's theatre.
The high school and the newly dubbed Meridian Centre for the Arts are located on Garrison Road across from Town Hall.
"Building the Centre for the Arts alongside GFESS was an ambitious project. It was not something we could have done alone. However, we had a tremendous partner in the Town of Fort Erie, and now, Meridian. Meridian understands the value of building community up and we are thrilled to have their support," Director of Education Warren Hoshizaki says via a release.
The theatre was originally built as a partnership between the District School Board of Niagara and the Town of Fort Erie - both organizations agreed to contribute $500,000 and the remainder of the three million dollar cost would be fundraised.
"Arts and culture bring people together and strengthen and connects communities," Wade Stayzer, Meridian's Chief Member Experience Officer says. "One of our core values as an organization is to make a difference in our local communities. This important cultural facility is a showcase for local talent and also a place for people to meet and come together for experiences and moments that become treasured memories."
