The commission hearing from the head of Niagara's newest airline about its expansion plans.
Greater Toronto Airline president Chris Nowrouzi says after six months of offering flights between Niagara's airport and Billy Bishop in Toronto they plan to expand the current weekday service of four flights a day to six flights, along with four flights on weekends.
Nowrouzi says they also planing to build a 3,600 square metre maintenance facility at the Niagara airport which would allow larger passenger aircraft to be serviced there.
Commission vice chair Robin Garrett noting with Pearson Airport expected to reach capacity by 2026, there is a need for local airports to grow and Niagara District airport is positioning itself to deal with the expansion.
