Business owner, Jeff Jordan beat alderman and firefighter Steve Berry 6,344 to 2,527 votes.
Former Mayor Bob Bentley decided not to run again.
Jordan tells CKTB the willingness to bring back transparency to Grimsby sealed his success.
The race for Regional Councillor had incumbent Tony Quirk competing against Wayne Fertich, with Fertich winning.
Grimsby is made up of 4 wards, each electing 2 aldermen.
Ward 1 alderman positions went to Kevin Ritchie and Reg Freake.
Ward 2 aldermen are Dave Kadwell and Lianne Vardy.
Ward 3 aldermen are John Dunstall and Randy Vaine.
Ward 4 aldermen are Dorothy Bothwell and Dave Sharpe.
Voter turnout was 43.78%.
