The fireworks planned tonight in Grimsby will go ahead despite a fire ban coming into effect at midnight.
The town confirmed to CKTB the Happening at the Forty fireworks planned at Southward Park will go ahead even as the town issues an open-air burning ban which prohibits the sue of fireworks.
The ban will be enforced as of midnight, just a few hours after the display in the sky.
Event organizers say the fire department has been on the scene ensuring safety and they are looking forward to it.

Other communities in Niagara with open-air burning bans include Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Lincoln, Pelham and Wainfleet.
The ban prohibits cooking fires (except barbeques and other gas appliances), consumer fireworks and all other types of outdoor burning.
The ban will remain in place until there is some sustained rainfall and cooler temperatures.
