There's frustration in the community after regional council delayed funding for barriers on the Burgoyne Bridge.
During a meeting Thursday, at least two councillors said they wouldn't support spending $4 million dollars on barriers.
Instead, they want the money spent on mental health programs.
The region's medical officer of health says the barriers are effective in preventing suicides and he will continue to call for their installation.
Wendy Duggan of Niagara United, a citizens action group, can't believe what happened at council.
She tells CKTB they thought they were on the right track and is shocked to hear about the delay.
Niagara United is planning a rally at the bridge Monday night. Members will post notes of support on the structure.
