A guilty plea from the stepfather of seven-year-old Nathan Dumas in a St Catharines court Friday.
Justin Kuijer was charged with second degree murder and aggravated assault.
On March 17, 2017 police were called to an apartment on Queenston Street after the little boy's mother found him unconscious in bed with a belt from a bathrobe tied around his neck.
He died in hospital the following day.
About 20 minutes after getting a 911 call from the boy's mother, police were called to the Royal Bank on Martindale Road after Kuijer stabbed a bank employee with a metal letter opener.
He had tried unsucessfully to get a mortgage at the bank several times.
Kuijer was the subject of a nation-wide manhunt following the attacks. He was caught five days later in Kenora and arrested at gunpoint by the OPP.
He will be sentenced on Tuesday.
