To celebrate International Women's Day, Habitat Niagara has announced a Women Build in Niagara.
The first one was held back in 2015 and saw more than 300 women from across the Niagara Region join forces to raise and build two Habitat homes.
Habitat's Karen Dolyniuk says they're actively recruiting 350 women to build two more homes, this time in Niagara Falls.
The build is set to begin in August with completion of the homes expected in time for Christmas.
The 2017 build consists of teams of 6 women that will be building a semi-detached home for two families in Niagara Falls from August to December, with the two homes being finished in time for Christmas.
No experience in construction is necessary.
There are skilled crew leaders who teach you everything you need to know.
You can form your own team in your workplace or you can volunteer as an individual and be matched with a team.
Each participant is asked to help fund the Women Build through fundraising.
Individuals are asked to raise a minimum of $250 in sponsorships, corporate teams are asked to donate $2500.
Habitat is also looking for additional support through in-kind donations of services and/or materials to help build the two homes.
