Prosecutors aren't proceeding with charges against half the people arrested in Toronto police raids on marijuana dispensaries last year.
Police laid 186 charges against 90 people, but charges against 45 have either been withdrawn or won't be proceeded with.
An additional 27 people have agreed to enter into peace bonds that impose restrictions in exchange for charges not being proceeded against them.
Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugwash says the time and resources required to prosecute all 90 people was a factor in the Crown's decision.
But Pugwash says police achieved what they set out to do -- taking large amounts of drugs off the streets.
