Halton police have launched a new weapon in their bid to keep drunk drivers off the road.

A new campaign, entitled Project Drive Thru, is targeting servers at drive thru windows, encouraging them to call police if they suspect a customer is drunk behind the wheel.

38 drive thru restaurants in Burlington are participating in the initiative that features a YouTube video and posters reminding cashiers of what to do if they spot a drunk driver.

Police say anyone who calls 911 to report a suspicious driver does not have to make a statement or file an official report.
