Hours after the Premier announced new limits of just 25 people for outdoor gatherings across the province, hundreds of people got together in Ancaster over the weekend for an impromptu car rally.
Police say the force received a tip from a neighbouring police service some would be street racers were planning to hold an event in the city Saturday night.
Approximately a thousand people packed the parking lot of the Ancaster Cineplex Cinemas, spilling over onto another nearby property.
Hamilton police Superintendant Will Mason says they had one objective Saturday night to disperse the crowd safely.
He says now they will investigate and possibly lay charges.
Mason calls the actions of the participants abhorrent in light of COVID 19 and the participants should be ashamed of themselves.
