After a year long pilot project, the city of Hamilton has given up efforts to ban peanuts at municipal facilities.
The board of health voting yesterday to drop the project that saw peanut sales banned at three facilities.
Officials hearing the attempt led to a drop in sales of more than $11,000.
Staff also reporting some vendors were putting peanuts in machines anyway.
The initiative was launched after the parents of a young girl with a severe peanut allegery, told council, their daughter fears for her life when she goes to games at Tim Hortons Field as well as other city events.
