A Hamilton man injured by a drunk driver is launching an $18 million lawsuit against the driver behind the wheel and a restaurant called The Honest Lawyer.
In the lawsuit, Mark Dawson is seeking $9 million for the suffering endured because of the crash, his wife is asking for $2 million dollars and his daughter is asking for $7 million.
The driver, David Megna, is serving a four-year sentence after pleading guilty in criminal court last September to impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.
The Dawson family's claim, which has not been tested in court, alleges, The Honest Lawyer kept serving Megna drinks when staff should have known he was drunk enough to be a danger to himself and others.
