The city of Hamilton isn't wasting any time preparing a bid for Amazon's second North American headquarters.
City council yesterday voting wholeheartedly to pursue the bid.
In an email, city officials say the vote sends a clear message to the online retail giant that Hamilton has the people, the infrastructure, the talent and the resolve to deliver results.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger says we know we are competing with cities across the continent but he notes we are confident in the value, excitement and energy Hamilton brings to the bid.
The city has already put together a Welcome Amazon video on youtube, featuring the mayor and a scenic view of the city and waterfront.
Council has approved spending half a million dollars to hire a consultant to help it prepare the bid, half of that money is coming from private donors.
The new headquarters is expected to create 50,000 jobs in the next ten to fifteen years and $5 billion in capital expenditures.
