Police are sending their thanks to a quick-thinking witness who rescued a young child from the second-floor roof of a home in Hamilton.
Hamilton police say the child was inside his bedroom napping when he woke up and managed to squeeze out the window onto the roof on Wednesday.
They say a citizen in the area ran inside the home and brought the child through the window to safety.
Police say they aren't investigating the incident as a criminal case but are reminding families to secure windows and doorways to ensure the safety of their children.
