As we continue to swelter from the heat, comes another warning about leaving pets in hot cars.
This after a Hamilton dog owner was charged over the weekend after a K9 police officer found a large dog inside a locked vehicle.
Police say the dog was found panting in a car Saturday afternoon parked outside a Barton Street East grocery Store.
K9 Officer Constable Kevin Willson fed the dog some water through an opening in the window then waited for the owner to return.
The owner was charged with permitting an animal to be in distress.
Police say the temperature was over 30 C inside the vehicle.
