Stelco workers in Hamilton have said yes to a new collective agreement that could clear the way for the sale of the steelmaker to Bedrock Industries.
The judge overseeing the court-supervised sale had indicated that collective bargaining agreements were needed before he would sign off on the deal.
Members of United Steelworkers Local 1005 voted nearly 64 percent in favour of the deal.
The contract has already been approved by steelworkers in Nanticoke.
The takeover plan now goes before a judge Friday where he is expected to give his approval.
