It's almost back to school time and there is bit of uncertainty in the air as parents prepare to send their kids back to the classroom.
President of Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation Harvey Bischof says provincial cuts will equal big changes.
Bischof says the schools will be significantly diminished compared to what they were before, and that "we're in the process of moving toward the elimination of 1 in every 4 high school teaching potions in Ontario. We've seen significant layoffs of support staff and people who provide services to students with special needs".
He contends there will be an impact to every kind of class that school districts offer, not just specialty positions.
Bischof pointing to an example from earlier this year when the Toronto District School Board announced they are cancelling 80 STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) courses.
Contract's expire on August 31st and the Ontario Secondary Teachers Federation will be heading to the Ontario Labour Relations Board August 22nd to determine which issues are going to be bargained centrally or locally.
Bischof is rallying his members in what he calls a "fight'' for public education.
