The Ontario Health Coalition says the provincial government's plan to no longer offer free prescriptions to kids and young adults with private coverage will hurt the most ill and vulnerable.
The coalition says many plans have deductibles or co-payments.
It says for families of children with cancer or serious illnesses, drug costs can amount to thousands of dollars per year, meaning that co-payments can range up to hundreds of dollars per month.
The coalition is calling on Premier Doug Ford to reverse the policy decision and have public consultations about issues that can negatively impact millions of Ontarians' household budgets.
