Sales of pickups and SUV's have helped save General Motors' bottom line.
The automaker reporting a second quarter profit of $2.42 billion, up one percent from the first quarter of the year.
The increase is being attributed to strong sales of higher priced pickups and SUV's which helped offset falling global sales in several key markets including North America and China.
