A report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information shows where the highest rates of opioid related hospitalizations in the country are.
In Ontario, Brantford comes in at number one with a rate of 41.2 per 100,000 people in 2017.
The only area to post higher numbers is Kelowna, B.C.
Meanwhile Thunder Bay comes in third for the country, while Niagara places fourth.
In Niagara, the rate is 27.18, translating to 116 hospitalizations for opioid posioning during the year.
Hamilton which includes Grimsby and Burlington had a rate of 20.2.
To deal with the increasing numbers in Hamilton, city council will be asking the province for approval to host a second supervised drug injection site in the city.
The supervised injection site in St. Catharines is in limbo as the temporary licence they have been working under expires in a few days.
