Another high profile appointment is not going ahead as planned at Brock
The University announcing on a posting on its website that Dr. martin Singer and the school came to a joint decision not to proceed with Dr. Singer's appointment as Acting Provost for the 2016-17 academic year.
He was approached earlier this year by Dr. Wendy Cukier, who was intended to take over as President of Brock in September, to take over the provost role.
Singer is a retired dean from York University.
The online statement says the announcement that Dr. Cukier would not be Brock’s next President significantly changed the context of, and expectations for, the Acting Provost position.
The University says Brock's Acting President should be able to choose the Acting Provost with "a bias toward someone who is thoroughly familiar with the Brock context and culture."
Cukier was to become Brock's first female president, but in a surprise announcement August 29th it was announced she and Brock had made a mutual decision to part ways.
She has since returned to a faculty position at Ryerson, but is currently on leave.
