A piece of local history will be preserved as the Canadian Railroad Historical Association Niagara Division reveals a plaque at Lakeside Park.
Although the tracks and station are long gone, today's 4 p.m. ceremony commemorates the electric railway, the Niagara, Saint Catharines and Toronto (NS&T), that connected Port Dalhousie, Port Weller and Merriton with Thorold, Niagara Falls, Welland, and Port Colbourne from 1899 to 1959.
This is the third of several history plaque projects planned by the CRHA - the first was installed in Thorold, and the second is in Merriton.
