Was it divine intervention?
We may never know, but police in Hamilton say the city's homeless Jesus statue helped prevent what could have been a catastrophic accident.
The driver of a junk removal truck, found he was unable to stop at the intersection on King Street East, so he mounted the curb to avoid hitting any pedestrians and other cars.
The truck came to a stop after hitting the statue of homeless Jesus in front of St. Patrick's Church.
Police say if the statue hadn't been there the truck would have headed into right into oncoming traffic as well as people crossing the street.
