Horizon Utilities is investing millions of dollars into GO transit expansion.
The corporation says it is nearing completion of the 2.5 million dollar project that will accommodate Metrolinx’s new GO Train Layover Facility on Lewis Road in Stoney Creek, a storage yard supporting Ontario’s expanded GO commuter services to the Hamilton and Niagara area.
The project includes the installation of 105 poles, 23 kilometres of overhead wire, 500 metres of underground cables and underground ducts, nine overhead switches, manhole vaults, on-grade switches and three pole-mounted transformers.
Horizon officials say the company will invest nearly $38 million for capital projects in 2016, including $27 million earmarked for system renewal efforts.
