The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake wants residents to know that a recent letter about the town's hospital is not from a council-run committee.
A letter called “Please bring back the NOTL Hospital” has been sent out in the mail asking residents to call the town's mayor and council members.
Town officials say while they appreciate the motivation behind the letter, it has created confusion in the community.
They say the “Committee to Bring Back NOTL Hospital” is not a Committee of Council, and Staff were not aware of the contents of the circulating letter.
The Town has a Hospital Site Steering Committee, which was created to provide recommendations to Council regarding the process for determining the future use of the former hospital land (176 Wellington Street).
The committee recently provided recommendations to Council for Staff to send out Requests for Expressions of Interest for the land.
The town says they will ask for public input during the consultation process.
