With the Rankin Cancer Run coming up on Saturday, Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre has an exciting announcement - a new outpatient Cancer Rehabilitation program.
Oncology patients that are going through, or have completed treatment will be able to use the service.
Officials say the program compliments community programming from Wellspring Niagara, offering medication monitoring and can provide adjustments if needed to help with the rehab process.
Admission must come through a doctor's referral.
Hotel Dieu Shaver approached its Foundation to request the funds needed to fill a gap in services. Officials says the response from the Rankin Family and Rankin Cancer Run was incredible.
"Hotel Dieu Shaver is well known in the community for creating programs and services based on population needs and best practices," CEO for Hotel Dieu Shaver Jane Rufrano says via a release. "We are committed to following in the tradition of our founding sisters to provide compassionate care and meet the unmet needs in our community. This donation and commitment is the final puzzle piece, to ensuring patients are getting the care they need close to home."
This year's Rankin Cancer Run is set for Saturday, May 26th at 10 a.m.
