A staff member of Hotel Dieu Shaver in St. Catharines has tested positive for COVID-19.
The employee is currently self-isolating at home.
A release from Hotel Dieu Shaver says there are no other known cases within the hospital involving either staff or patients.
As an added precaution, Hotel Dieu Shaver says they've increased visitor restrictions until the matter is cleared by Niagara Public Health.
“Our utmost priority is the safety of our patients, our community and our staff and physicians. Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team, along with our Occupational Health team, in partnership with Niagara Public Health, will monitor the situation closely and make adjustments as required,” states Lynne Pay, Chief Executive Officer. “We appreciate and thank everyone at Hotel Dieu Shaver, our patients, their visitors and the community for their ongoing commitment and patience as we continue to make best efforts to provide the safest environment possible.”
