How many people are dying in Ontario from opioid overdoses?
According to Public Health Ontario more than 600 people died in the first six months of last year.
The numbers come in as overdose prevention sites await word on whether they can continue to operate in the province beyond Sunday.
Positive Living Niagara has been hosting the Queenston Street site since late last year, but the temporary licence they have been operating under will expire at the end of this month.
629 people in Ontario died from opioid-related causes from January to June of 2018, that's 80 more deaths than during the same period in 2017.
In Niagara, 74 residents died from overdoses in 2017 compared to 40 in 2016.

Health Minister Christine Elliott is reviewing applications for 21 sites that will be established with 31 million dollars in annual funding under a new overdose prevention site model planned by the government.
