As the town of Grimsby continues to grow, two groups are hoping town officials don't lose sight of the bigger picture.
Fran Chesney from the Grimsby Historical Society says they have teamed up with the group, Save Main Street, to curb development in the town.
She say council will be deciding tomorrow if funding will be committed to a study that will look into the impact of development on all of Main Street, beginning with Main Street East.
The study would be the first step on having a heritage district declared on Main Street East.
The study is expected to cost $100,000.
Chesney says Grimsby is one of the oldest communities in Ontario, but they have little protection for their heritage homes.
The group says they understand that change and growth is inevitable, but they want to manage the change to ensure what they treasure will remain.
She says there are over 100 communities with heritage districts across Ontario, but Grimsby has none.
