Today marks the start of the fall season.
Environment Canada's Peter Kimbell says we can expect the unusually hot weather to continue for at least another week.
He says we have a ridge of high pressure over the Great Lakes that is pushing the jet stream further north, combined with warm air from the south that is keeping the mercury higher than normal.
Kimbell says seasonal temperatures will return by the end of the month, with cool air continuing into October, but he notes the warmer air may return in the second and third week of the month.
The meteorologist adding we typically get about 74 mm of rain in September and we have only had about 26 mm of rain so far, and he expects that trend to continue for the rest of the month.
