Hunters Pointe in Welland closed for good

Welland homeowners living near Hunters Pointe golf course say they were blindsided by news the course has been sold to a developer who wants to build homes on the site.

The 83 hectare property has been purchased by a numbered company represented by the Biglieri Group.

The residents accuse the city of fast tracking the rezoning application, which city staff deny.

The Welland Tribune reporting it contacted the owner of the golf course, who responded with a brief email saying Hunters Pointe is closed permanently and will not reopen.

The issue will go before council on May 1st.
