In the season’s biggest game to date, Stephen Dhillon stopped all 30 North Bay in a 4-0 shutout win. With the victory, the Dogs jumped into 7th spot in the OHL east, one ahead of Ottawa and four points clear of the Battalion.
Ryan Mantha got the scoring underway with an early power-play goal. Kirill Maksimov made it 2-0 with a late man advantage tally. Johnny Corneil and Akil Thomas added assists on both goals.
In the middle period, Justin Brack scored his third of the year on assists from Bradey Jonson and Josh Dame. Brack’s second of the game came about five minutes later as he deked out the North Bay goaltender with Maksimov and Mantha adding assists. The second period featured 23 IceDogs shots in a game where the team fired a season high 54 shots on goal.
The penalty kill went to work in the third and kept the Battalion at bay, recording 5 kills in the contest.
The IceDogs are off until Thursday, which features the back half of a home and home with North Bay. 610 CKTB will have the first of three Northern games, starting with the pre-game at 6:30.
